Taylor knows firsthand how stressful it is to navigate through the planning process, but nothing excites her more than talking about wedding details. Please keep reading to see the top wedding trends of 2019 and a few valuable tips that will inspire you…
Coral is the pantone color of 2019. Coral is one of those colors that isn’t quite orange and isn’t quite pink, but it pairs well with a variety of other colors. Coral and Pink or Coral and Orange can give your wedding the look of a real sunset. “Bridal Beauty is going back to a classic feel. You’ll start to see brides embracing a natural look but give it a modern touch with a bold color like coral,” said Taylor.
Other color combination possibilities are Coral with Navy. Then, there’s always the “regal/royal” combination of Coral and Gold. Coral, Mint, and White can be bold and modern, & Coral, Green, and Beige can be more natural and rustic.
Whether you pick a bold color or a more subtle one, it’s always important to pick an accent color that will balance out the color scheme. A strong color like a metallic or even a neutral color is a good example of this.. We’re seeing less gold and copper and instead seeing more white when it comes to 2019 weddings. White create a classic look that can keep your wedding feeling more traditional, while still being able to introduce some fun colors with it.
Candles & Favors
Candles are always an easy centerpiece that be transformed in so many ways. “Candles are classic and can really set the mood for what a wedding should feel like,” says Taylor. “This is a trend that will never go out of style.” We’ve seen big candles, small candles, floating candles, and candle sticks. But most of these candles are usually unscented. But with essential oils and aromatherapy on the rise, consider scenting your wedding with scented candles. Personalized candles can also double as a wedding favor. They say smells can trigger emotions and memories better than any other sense. Let your guests take home a personalized candle, and they’ll remember your wedding every time they re-light it.
We’ve also seen a lot of “make your own” goodie bags lately. Candy bars have been a huge 2018 trend. Guests love making their own treats to take home, but let’s be real here….This is a favor that is probably more popular with kids rather than adults.

Some couples are starting an interactive bar with local ingredients or locally sourced liquors that guests can sample. This is a fun idea if most of your guests are from out of the area, because this gives them a taste of local flavors. Customize your bar with personalized cups, bar napkins, stir sticks, and koozies for an extra goodie for your guests.
Another popular favor we’re seeing are more for the guys, but it still is a popular wedding tradition. Cigar Bars are great if you have an outdoor venue or an open-air feature. Make sure you have a cutter handy, and personalized matches are another fun and inexpensive favor your guests will love!

If your décor features a lot of greenery and living florals, give your guests a centerpiece that won’t die on them quickly. Living plants like succulents, herbs, and other foliage are making a big impact on the earth and with many wedding guests.

Speaking of greenery, organic and outdoorsy are big wedding trends for 2019. Bring the outdoors inside with vines, branches, and large flower installations that are romantic as well as stunning. Long and low floral arrangements are making more of a statement on tables rather than large floral centerpieces. Have fun making different levels with layering and arranging with vases, lanterns, candles, and accented décor.
Be creative with your greenery, don’t stick to just flowers. Evergreen branches, vines, moss, and succulents can add a lot of green to your big day. Run your aisle with greenery, hang flowers from the ceiling, and put flowers on the backs of chairs. “This is my 2019 top trend that I plan to incorporate into my own wedding,” said Taylor. “Greenery to me, sets a romantic scene.”
2019 is going to be THE year for balloons! We’ve seen everything from balloons floating in the air, balloons hanging from the ceiling, balloon arches, balloon gift tables, balloon centerpieces, and balloon letters. “For my wedding, I’ve hired our partner vendor Banzi Balloons to do a ceremony arch. I can’t wait to see it come to life!” said Taylor. Balloons now come in so many shapes and colors, and they just make your wedding feel fun and light-hearted. Plus, balloons make a fun photo prop for your wedding pictures.

At 502 East Event Centre, we’ve noticed that our couples love the porte-cochere that’s on the front of our building to make grand entrances and exits. Guests enjoy an interactive exit to end the night and give them one last chance to wish the bride and groom well as they head off to start their new life together. Incorporating an interactive element into your exit can also include color. While sparklers and rice are usually only white, couples now are adding color to their exits with balloon releases, colorful confetti, glow sticks, and smoke bombs.
Lighting in a wedding can really project the feel you want your wedding to have. Lighting for your ceremony and reception are now becoming a must when it comes to wedding décor. If you find your venue is more of a sterile space or a space that has contrasting colored carpets, you can always change them in a flash with lights. If you want your wedding to be soft and romantic, pink up lights can give a more classic, clean feel. If you’re feeling more like a crazy party, make the room dark with bright neon lights to set a fun mood. Projecting the couple’s names, logos, or shapes on the walls or dance floors can really make a wedding theme come together.
The important thing to remember about weddings, is although the family and friends of the couple love them very much, they’re most likely going to attend for the food. Making sure the catering can appease the masses should be high on your to-do list. Food trends are always changing year after year, but our favorites are not only ones that look cute, but also the ones that taste good too!
Appetizers that satisfy the pickiest of eaters are important to consider. Some appetizers are a little too fancy for the common guest, and that’s why a lot of couples are choosing comfort food appetizers with a more upscale presentation. A few examples of this are deep-fried mac and cheese in a martini glass, or sliders.

Cakes are what everyone gets excited about when we talk about wedding trends, and most couples are looking for a wedding cake that can also make a statement. Monogrammed wedding cakes are high on the 2019 list. Some couples are choosing cakes that also include cool textures such as ruffles, lace, and rosettes. Metallic accents and bright piping are still in style and can help make your cake fit your color scheme. Painted cakes are another cool option that can make an ordinary shaped cake into a work of art. If you’re looking for a rustic style dessert or maybe you just don’t want your cake thick with frosting, naked cakes are still popular. Decorating cakes with fruit such as figs, berries, or tiny apples instead of flowers made of frosting are gaining popularity in 2019 as well.

In 2019 we are still seeing additional desserts and not just cake alone. We’ve seen lots of cupcakes and cake pops, and more recently doughnuts and macaroons. Ice cream carts filled with novelties are always a big hit among kids and kids at heart. All these extra desserts are a fun way to decorate your cake table, or hand them out later in the night to keep your party energized. If you’re sick of sweets, late-night snacks like chips with dip and popcorn, can help balance out all the sweetness. Guests will love that you want to keep the party going by fueling them up with more food.
