December and the Christmas season feels like it was a year ago instead of only 4 months, but we’ve been working so hard that it has all sort of blended together. The next thing we know – it’s Spring! We’re playing catch-up and filling you in with some of the best of the events we have either hosted at 502 East or catered all over central Indiana.
Back in December we had a lot of end-of-the-year celebrations as well as our usual holiday parties. Companies treated their employees to parties with food, games, live music, and of course great food from Catering by Jonathan Byrd’s.
We had a couple of these parties at 502 East that transformed our ballrooms into casinos. Blackjack, craps, roulette, and Texas holdem tables ran all night long. Others hosted parties at 502 East boasting extravagant buffets and action stations such as those creating delicious hot roast beef sliders. These employers also rewarded their valued employees with award ceremonies, fun games, and a live bands.
When you can’t come to us, let us come to you! Catering by Jonathan Byrd’s will happily travel to your office or private residence. We love to bring our giant buffets stacked with delicious food. For a holiday party at the Indiana Historical society, we delivered not only our famous Jonathan Byrd’s Macaroni and Cheese, but we had multiple stations filled with goodies such as baked brie with crostini and crackers, and our s’more whips dessert topped with toasted marshmallows. A separate catering breakfast buffet hosted a made-to-order omelet station for a company’s in-house ugly sweater party. Their full bar even included Bloody Mary’s and a signature Santa Claus-Mopolitian.
Winter Weddings are seriously underrated. Everyone wants to get married in the summer when it’s sunny, or in the fall with the spectacular colors, but with a winter wedding you can take stunning pictures in the snow and really transform your space to keep your guest’s minds off the cold weather.
Winter weddings also allow you to incorporate Christmas décor. That’s what Brad and McKayla did for their 502 Winter wedding. They lined the aisle, cake, and guest tables with evergreen garland and white lanterns. We loved this gorgeous wedding because they really took our ballroom space and invented it into their own.

Abby and Kyle also tied the knot this winter at one of our newest partner venues – Indiana Landmarks. And although the weather was beautiful for them, their indoor wedding was dazzling! This lovely couple decorated their space with exquisite centerpieces as well as an incredible donut cake! They clearly loved having breakfast for dinner… or dessert.

Tom and Anne had a modern industrial wedding at Industry in downtown Indianapolis. This couple decorated with lots of candles mixed with evergreen trees and branches. We’re also in love with their copper pipe centerpieces and wedding arch mixed with beautiful string lights. Their cupcake tier included chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with different toppings. Congratulations to this beautiful couple!

It might have been December, but you would have thought it was Spring when you walked into Manjot and Raj’s 502 East two-day wedding. We loved all the fun colors this couple incorporated into their big day. Day one featured fun green and pink colors with a bright parasol backdrop. Day two featured gold and white décor with white flowers hanging down the aisle. We loved this elegant reimagining of walking down the aisle – instead of décor on the floor, put it up high and walk through a curtain of flowers for a truly epic entrance!
502 East was honored to host a beautiful Military Ball in December. These soldiers and their dates were dressed to the nines to celebrate their accomplishments as a battalion. Guests loved taking pictures in front of the large Christmas trees at 502 East and enjoyed listening to their guest speaker. The night concluded with a grog toast in which commanders poured different liquor and other ingredients into a big cauldron to celebrate different milestones throughout the history of the battalion. Ingredients included rum, sake, and brown sugar.
Following the holiday season, we had several other engagements to cater at that were just as fun. Our first was for our friends at Accelerent. Jonathan Byrd’s is a proud Accelerent partner, and we love to cater receptions for them as well as our regular breakfasts. Indiana Hero Rudy Ruettiger from “Rudy” Fame was at their January breakfast. Accelerent wanted to throw a party to allow members access to some one-on-one face time with the local celebrity, so Catering by Jonathan Byrd’s prepared some awesome tailgating cuisine for the event. We had mini pulled-pork sandwiches, football-shaped brownies, veggie displays, and jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon. An inspiring breakfast at 502 East the next day followed this lively event.
We had another corporate group at 502 East and in lieu of having a holiday party in December, they elected to hold an end-of the-year/anniversary party in January. This company celebrated their 25th anniversary with a silent auction and lots of poker games put on by the Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple. They enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating their accomplishments.

Another company also had a kick-off party for the new year in February at Indiana Historical Society. Employees were treated to live music and appetizers from Catering by Jonathan Byrd’s in the Stardust Café, and then moved into the theater where they were presented with awards. Following the ceremony, employees relished a custom dinner including Chocolate Truffle Tort with Melted Raspberry, Spiced Cream for dessert.
This last group we’re going to mention wasn’t a company celebrating their employees, but a community celebrating local volunteers. Catering by Jonathan Byrd’s catered at the City of Fishers Service Awards dinner at FORUM Conference & Events Centre in February. Guests interactive with live music, colorful balloon décor, and a photobooth. We loved the living succulent centerpieces and favors . Everything on the table matched from the programs, to the napkins, as well as the standing menu cards. We were so delighted to see the city celebrate these hardworking people that are dedicated to their community to make it great!
